Ever been at the wrong place at the wrong time?
I don’t know how to bring out what I am about to
write about, but read through with me.
David, a man after God’s own heart, that’s what we
read about him in Acts 13:22, many people never think that David really
deserved that description, well for whatever reasons that they have. Psalms 51
is one of those chapters that convince me that David really did deserve that title,
but that’s not the point.
There is something about being at the wrong place
at the wrong time, that awakens me this day even as I share.
2nd
Samuel 11:1
And it came to pass after the year was expired at the time when kings go forth to battle that David sent Joab and his servants with him and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon and besieged Rabbah.
But David Tarried still at Jerusalem
It
was because David was in the wrong place at the wrong time that he ended up
seeing Bathsheba naked, the he lusted for her that he sent for her, that he committed adultery with Bathsheba, that Bathsheba conceived, and
upon realisation, that he ordered for the death of Uriah

It
was about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. This was a time when
kings went out with their armies for war, but he didn’t go. The reason why he didn’t
go is not known to us, but the point is if he had gone to war, he would most
definitely not be involved in the entire scandal.
He
wasn’t doing anything wrong, he was probably just resting when he moved to his window, but he was not
supposed to be resting at that particular time. It got me thinking about me,
about us, are there certain things in life we did because we were knowingly in
the wrong place at the wrong time.
Think
about vespers, or devotion times, or bible study times, or times of worship. Are
there times when we were supposed to be at the forefront of our spiritual
battles but we decided to go for walk with our friends, or go on a date with
the person we love, or watch a football match when we are supposed to be
worshiping or maybe go partying when we have bible study, or maybe sleep when
we are supposed to be having devotion
It
all looks like a lesser evil, in our minds it may be “not so bad” but the consequences we pay for making a wrong
decision could leave a scar in our lives that will be a constant reminder of
the wrong decision we made.
But
the beauty of it all is Psalms 51. I particularly love verse 10:
Create
in me a clean heart O Lord and renew a right Spirit within me. I guess we all
do
As
you ponder on these words, remember to be at the right place at the right time,
Oh and remember to do the right thing while you are at it.
It
is possible!
Great article. Heavenly inspired I must say. May God help us to be at the right place all the time.Amen.
